Description
Helix Cure and Seal 25 WB, a ready-to-use, water-based acrylic emulsion, functions both as a membrane-curing compound that meets ASTM C 309 standards and as a sealer for colored and uncolored concrete. This product can be used on colored concrete as long as extreme care is taken to apply Helix Cure and Seal 25 WB uniformly and to ensure that no alkalies become trapped between the concrete and the sealer.
Helix Cure and Seal 25 WB forms a dust-proof concrete seal that also repels water and stains.
Sealers: An Overview
Product Benefits
- Helix Cure and Seal 25 WB is an excellent product for curing concrete when applied to interior concrete surfaces, colored and uncolored concrete and exterior concrete surfaces that will weather naturally and that will be regularly maintained and recoated.
- Water-based, non-flammable and environmentally friendly.
- Helix Cure and Seal 25 WB is an excellent product for sealing concrete when applied to colored and uncolored concrete that has been uncoated or stripped and exterior concrete surfaces that will weather naturally and that will be regularly maintained and recoated.
- For finished sealing on existing surfaces, Helix Cure and Seal 25 WB can be recoated with additional Helix Cure and Seal 25 WB.
- Helix Cure and Seal 25 WB will not yellow, haze or flake.
- Helix Cure and Seal 25 WB does not contain petroleum distillates, paraffins or waxes.
Application – Curing New Concrete
- Helix Cure and Seal 25 WB is ready to use. Do not dilute.
- After broom or trowel finishing, apply Helix Cure and Seal 25 WB when surface moisture has completely disappeared.
- Apply Helix Cure and Seal 25 WB, without dilution, by using an airless sprayer or a low-volume pump-up sprayer with a fan tip.
- Important: When applying Helix Cure and Seal 25 WB, do not allow the product to puddle. Apply Helix Cure and Seal 25 WB as uniformly as possible, without leaving either spaces or puddles. Thin applications will give better results than one single, heavy application.
Application – Sealing Existing Concrete
- Surface must be thoroughly cleaned, rinsed and allowed to dry at least 24 hours before sealing.
- Surface must be free of other coatings, waxes and paint.
- When sealing existing concrete with Helix Cure and Seal 25 WB, test prior to application in an inconspicuous area to ensure compatibility. If in doubt about surface on existing concrete, consult ChemSystems Inc.
- After cleaning and testing surface, follow application steps listed for “Application – Curing New Concrete.”
Limitations and Precautions
- Conforms to ASTM 2047 for slip resistance, surfaces with Helix Cure and Seal 25 WB may become slippery, especially on surfaces such as pool decks where water collects.
- Helix Cure and Seal 25 WB should not be used in areas continuously submerged in water or on exterior surfaces without sufficient texture.
- If applying to existing extremely hard-troweled concrete, call ChemSystems Inc. for technical assistance.
- It is not recommended to use this product over existing membranes, nor should the product be applied where coating materials are to be used.
- Helix Cure and Seal 25 WB is not highly resistant to harsh chemicals and should not be used in such applications.
- As a water-based product, this sealer may not adhere or it may soften if applied too heavily, if not allowed to dry, or if not applied according to directions.
- It is very important that the sealer be allowed to completely dry before temperature drops below 40° F or before contact with water.
- Concrete cured with Helix Cure and Seal 25 WB should not be covered with plastic sheeting or waterproofing paper. If concrete needs further curing after a period of four days, then new, nonwrinkled, nonstaining, reinforced, kraft-curing paper can be used.
- Finish coats should be applied when concrete and temperatures are between 50-90° F and when temperatures will not fall below 40° F.
- Like all coatings, Helix Cure and Seal 25 WB requires periodic maintenance as well as reapplication.
- Adhesive-backed tape (such as duct tape) left on Helix Cure and Seal 25 WB over an extended period of time will create a chemical “weld” between the tape and the sealed substrate. If this happens, the sealer may be subject to delamination. Delamination can also occur when plastic or synthetic rubber mats are placed on the surface and left undisturbed over extended periods and when rubber tires on the sealed surface have been exposed to heat.

Coverage Rate and Drying Times
Coverage Rates
Actual coverage may vary depending on surface porosity, texture, age and condition of the concrete. It also may be affected by the application method and other local conditions.
Curing New Concrete
- Smooth Finish, Per Coat – Material usage, per coat, is approximately 300 square feet per gallon.
- Rough or Broom Finish, Per Coat – Material usage, per coat, is approximately 200 square feet per gallon.
Sealing Existing Concrete
- Smooth Finish, Per Coat – Material usage, per coat, is approximately 300 square feet per gallon.
- Rough or Broom Finish, Per Coat – Material usage, per coat, is approximately 200 square feet per gallon.
- ChemSystems Inc. recommends two coats.
Drying times below will vary depending on temperature and humidity. Do not apply if rain is imminent.
- Set to Touch – Surface can be lightly touched 20-30 minutes after application.
- Foot Traffic – Surface will dry 3 hours after application for foot traffic.
- Vehicle Traffic – vehicles can be allowed 72 hours after final coat.
